Canara Bank has invited online applications for 3,500 Graduate Apprentice training seats for the financial year 2026–27. The official advertisement is issued under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and the application window is open from 1 October 2026 to 17 October 2026. Eligible Indian citizens must first register on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal, complete their profile and then apply through the Canara Bank application link.
This is an apprenticeship training opportunity rather than a regular bank-employee appointment. The official notification provides a monthly stipend of ₹16,650 during the training period, including the applicable government subsidy. Candidates should read the advertisement carefully because the training state, local-language requirement, graduation completion date, previous apprenticeship experience and marks in the qualifying examination all affect eligibility.

Canara Bank Apprentice vacancies and state choice
The official advertisement lists 3,500 training seats across states and Union Territories. The state-wise table includes seats in locations such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Bengal and other listed regions. The seat distribution is provisional and may change according to the bank’s actual requirement.
A candidate can opt for training seats in only one state under this project. The application may allow the candidate to give an order of preference for districts in the selected state, but allotment remains need-based and subject to the availability of seats. Canara Bank reserves the right to allot a training seat in any district of the selected state according to administrative requirements. Candidates should select a state only after checking the local-language requirement and the vacancy table in the official advertisement.
Who is eligible for the apprenticeship?
The applicant must hold a degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. The graduation must have been passed not earlier than 1 January 2023 and not later than 1 September 2026, with both dates inclusive. Candidates should be ready to produce the degree, marksheets or other documents requested by the bank.
The age is calculated as on 1 September 2026. The general age range is 20 to 28 years, and the advertisement specifies the corresponding date-of-birth limits. Upper-age relaxation is provided for eligible categories including SC/ST, OBC non-creamy layer, PwBD candidates and certain widows, divorced women or legally separated women who have not remarried. Applicants claiming relaxation must have the prescribed certificates available at document verification.
Knowledge of the local language of the selected state is mandatory. Candidates who studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 and can produce the relevant marksheet or certificate may not have to take a separate language test. Other candidates will be tested during document verification. A candidate who fails the local-language test will not be engaged as an apprentice.
NATS registration is required before applying
The official advertisement makes registration on the NATS apprenticeship portal a prerequisite. Candidates who are not already registered must create an account and complete their profile. Only candidates whose NATS profile is 100 percent complete are eligible to apply for the Canara Bank training seats. The NATS enrollment ID generated during registration must be kept safely because it is required when applying through the bank’s portal.
Completing a NATS profile does not by itself submit the Canara Bank application. Candidates must complete both stages: NATS registration and the separate Canara Bank application. They should use the exact same personal and education details in both places. A mismatch in name, date of birth, graduation information or category details may create a problem during verification.

Selection process and qualifying marks
Canara Bank will prepare a state-wise merit list in descending order on the basis of marks or percentage obtained in the Class 12 HSC/10+2 or Diploma examination. If candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate is ranked higher according to the advertisement. The minimum qualifying marks are not less than 60 percent for the general selection and 55 percent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Fractions are ignored, so 59.99 percent is treated as below 60 percent and 54.99 percent is treated as below 55 percent.
Where a board or university awards CGPA or OGPA, the candidate must convert it into percentage according to the institution’s official rules and provide the required conversion certificate. The merit list is based on the information submitted online. If a discrepancy is found during document verification, the application may be disqualified.
Final selection is subject to eligibility verification, qualification in the local-language test where applicable and medical fitness according to the bank’s requirements. Selected candidates must enter into an apprenticeship contract approved through the NATS portal before engagement.
Stipend, training and employment status
The official notification states that the apprentice receives a monthly stipend of ₹16,650, including the applicable government subsidy. Canara Bank’s share is stated as ₹10,500 per month, while the government share of ₹6,150 is credited through DBT according to the applicable guidelines. Apprentices are not eligible for other allowances or benefits listed as employee benefits in the notification.
The apprenticeship includes on-the-job training during the hours applicable to the bank’s clerical cadre. After successful completion, NATS joint certification is awarded. Candidates should understand that Canara Bank has no obligation to offer regular employment during or after the apprenticeship. Completion of training does not automatically create a right to a permanent bank job.
Important documents and precautions
Keep the graduation certificate, all relevant marksheets, NATS enrollment information, identity documents, category certificate and local-language proof ready. Candidates who claim OBC reservation need a valid non-creamy-layer certificate in the prescribed format. The bank may ask for original documents and photocopies at document verification, reporting or later stages.
Applicants who have already undergone apprenticeship training with Canara Bank or another organization, are currently pursuing apprenticeship training, or have completed one or more years of job experience after the educational qualification may be ineligible under the notification. Read the complete eligibility clauses before paying the application charge.
